Mindful Modes – Breathing Life Into Your Scale Practice
A weekly drop-in class for anyone wanting to discover or re-discover the delight of scales as a daily practice of becoming grounded, integrated, connected, present and embodied.
The Zen Practice Room: How to practice mindfully
Slowing down is the highway to liberation. Like a weekly yoga class, these sessions are an invitation to discover the true nature of mindful practice. Listening to our bodies and our breath we become clear in our intention. As our biases change and holding patterns release, we find ourselves present and in flow. We will discover a way of working in which every moment of our practice has the capacity to serve every moment of our music making.
Limber Up! 6: Integration
How are we inhibiting our natural flow and creating pain and injury? In these sessions we will debunk the myths of ‘good posture’ - ‘feet flat on the floor’, ‘straight back’ and ‘shoulders back and down’. By waking up the spine and the feet, by finding our ground and allowing our shoulders to move freely and our breath to support us we will invite the whole body to participate in the dance of sound we are creating, promoting efficiency and ease in our playing.

Reinvigorating Folk Tunes: 2 session course
For musicians who wish to release themselves from the shackles of printed music. I will demonstrate methods which will breathe new life into old tunes. For example, sometimes simplifying tunes can lead to a thrilling discovery, this happened when I removed many of the quavers from The Irish Washerwoman - Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony appeared.
